Yamaha BB735A 5-String Electric Bass Guitar – Dark Coffee Sunburst

Classic Yamaha BB Tone. Modern Versatility. Professional Performance.

The Yamaha BB735A 5-String Electric Bass Guitar in Dark Coffee Sunburst combines the legendary sound of Yamaha's BB Series with modern construction, versatile active/passive electronics, and outstanding playability. Designed for serious bassists, the BB735A delivers powerful low-end response, articulate midrange, and exceptional tonal flexibility for everything from classic rock and blues to funk, jazz, worship, and modern metal.

Featuring a premium alder/maple/alder body, five-piece maple/mahogany neck, custom-wound Alnico V pickups, and Yamaha's innovative six-bolt miter neck joint, the BB735A is built to deliver reliable performance on stage, in the studio, and everywhere in between.

Alder/Maple/Alder Body – Exceptional Resonance and Sustain

The BB735A features Yamaha's distinctive three-piece alder/maple/alder body construction, designed to enhance resonance, sustain, and tonal clarity.

The maple center adds stiffness and midrange definition, helping the bass cut through a dense band mix while maintaining the warmth and punch associated with traditional alder-bodied instruments.

A beautifully applied Dark Coffee Sunburst gloss polyurethane finish highlights the classic BB body design, while refined contours provide excellent comfort during extended playing sessions.

Five-Piece Neck with Six-Bolt Miter Joint

The BB735A features a durable five-piece maple and mahogany neck designed for stability, quick response, and comfortable playability.

Yamaha's innovative six-bolt miter neck joint creates a tighter connection between the neck and body, improving vibration transfer and enhancing sustain and resonance.

The satin-finished neck, 34-inch scale length, rosewood fingerboard, and 21 medium frets provide a smooth, familiar playing experience. An 18mm bridge string spacing offers comfortable room for fingerstyle playing, slap techniques, and precise picking.

Custom-Wound V7 Alnico V Pickups – Classic BB Character

Equipped with Yamaha's custom-wound V7 pickup system, the BB735A delivers the punch, clarity, and versatility that have made the BB Series a favorite among professional bassists.

The neck-position split-coil pickup produces a full, warm sound with strong low-end presence, while the bridge-position single-coil pickup provides focused midrange, articulation, and definition.

A dedicated pickup balancer allows players to blend both pickups for a wide range of classic and contemporary bass tones.

Active/Passive Electronics with Three-Band EQ

The Yamaha BB735A features a flexible active/passive electronics system, allowing players to switch between traditional passive bass tone and enhanced active tone shaping.

In active mode, the onboard three-band EQ provides independent bass, middle, and treble adjustment, making it easy to dial in everything from deep, rounded lows to aggressive, cutting tones.

Switch to passive mode for a more traditional, organic bass response.

An integrated battery alert LED provides a convenient warning when the active electronics battery is running low, helping prevent unexpected interruptions during performances.

Vintage Plus Bridge – Flexible Stringing Options

The BB735A features Yamaha's premium Vintage Plus bridge, combining a steel bridge plate with brass saddles for excellent sustain, tonal definition, and reliable intonation.

The convertible bridge design allows for traditional bridge stringing or Yamaha's diagonal body-through stringing system, which routes the strings through the body at a 45-degree angle.

This design helps reduce stress on the strings while providing efficient vibration transfer to the body.

The adjustable saddle design also allows players to fine-tune the instrument's response and feel.

Built for the Working Bassist

From its lightweight open-gear tuning machines to its comfortable body contours and versatile electronics, the Yamaha BB735A is designed to meet the demands of serious musicians.

Its combination of traditional BB styling, modern construction, and flexible tone shaping makes it an excellent choice for bassists who need one instrument capable of covering a wide variety of musical styles.
